in Share A beggar in Lagos has been sentenced to spend the next 7 years in prison after he was found guilty of attempted kidnap. 38-year-old Aminu Hamisu had already managed to lure the child in question out of the premises of a primary school but was spotted just in time by a neighbour. An 18-year-old girl and mother of one, Kate Ajie, has been arraigned before a Rivers State court over assault and child abuse to her five-year- old daughter , Divine. The 18-year-old mother was said to have seriously beaten her five-year-old daughter to the extent that a concerned neighbour who accused the mother of constant maltreatment had to involve the police by taking the girl to the Divisional Police Officer , Mohammed Suleiman Baba on February 21.
Rising from their meeting in Kaduna with the Northern Traditional Rulers Council in Kaduna State, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) today raised the alarm that the President Goodluck Jonathan-led government is gathering arms for unknown motives ahead of the 2015 elections.NEF also accused Jonathan of nursing a clandestine agenda in choosing to convoke a national conference.
