A Johane Marange Apostolic Church prophet has made sensational revelations regarding his ‘unheard of’ methods of healing.One such a method is the use of water and a hosepipe to cure malaria. Prophet Thomas Mashava of Dzingirai Village in Manicaland, near the confluence of Mupudzi and Odzi rivers said his homestead-cum-shrine has literallybecome a hospital.When treating Malaria, Prophet Mashava said he forces a patient togulp a staggering 5 litres of his holywater before shoving a hosepipe into the patient’s butt-hole.“The 5 litres of holy water would induce vomiting and clean the upper digestive system. I will then insert a pipe through the anus and pour more water to clean the lowerdigestive system. After pouring a certain amount of water, the patient would instantly poo, clearing the whole digestive system,” Mashava said with a reassuring smile.The Man of God claims that its God who instructed him to ‘pump’ large sums of water to constipation patients through the anus. Surprisingly desperate and bedridden patients come from as far as Harare and Bulawayo to get help at his shrine.Manicaland provincial medical director Tapiwa Murambi said The Ministry of Health and Child Welfare is yet to do a scientific study to ascertain the extent of the apostolic sect’s religious objections to professional medical services in the province.“You have to have their cooperationto produce a valid study,” Murambi said.
